What is reiki?
Reiki is a form of energy healing, also known as palm or hands-on healing, targeting energy fields around the body. It seeks out stagnated energy, which may have been caused by emotional pain, for example, or perhaps a physical injury.
Over time, this stagnated energy can lead to illness, but reiki can be used to help encourage the flow of energy, removing the blocks as it works – in a similar way to the likes of acupressure or acupuncture.

What does a reiki session involve?
Reiki sessions can be carried out anywhere, so you can do it in the comfort of your own home if you don’t feel comfortable going somewhere or perhaps have mobility issues at the moment. The setting does need to be a peaceful one, however, in order for the treatment to be most successful.
Your practitioner will place their hands on or over different parts of your body for a few minutes to transfer energy. You may find that their hands become quite warm, which can be an interesting sensation the first time! Your practitioner will continue holding their hand positions until they sense that the energy has stopped flowing.
Distance reiki is also an option, with practitioners able to clear blockages even if they’re not actually with you, following the ancient principle of the Hermetic Law of Similarity. Invoking this law means that your practitioner is able to carry out treatments over long distances.
