The Power Of Reiki

Have you been feeling a bit out of sorts recently? Are you worried about your mental health and wellbeing? If so, the good news is that there’s a lot you can try that could make a very real difference to how you’re feeling.

There are all sorts of holistic therapies you can engage in that can help you deal with any feelings of stress and anxiety you may be experiencing, but if you haven’t tried reiki before, you may want to consider it as an option, as those who have tried it say that it helps them feel incredibly relaxed… so it could be a great way of helping yourself navigate your way through these troubling times.

But, aside from being a tool for relaxation, reiki is also thought by many to be effective in reducing pain, speeding up the healing process and reducing the symptoms of all sorts of illnesses.

It’s been used to help treat a wide range of different conditions, everything from cancer and heart disease to depression, chronic pain, autism, Crohn’s disease and even neurodegenerative disorders, so if you’re currently experiencing a health problem of some kind, you may find it beneficial to try a reiki session and see how you feel afterwards.

Those who have tried it often come back and say how refreshed and relaxed they feel after a session, with many even falling asleep on the table! But what exactly is involved in reiki and what should you expect if you do decide to see a practitioner? Here are a few answers to your questions.

“I am sending you healing energy right now, for every area of your life”

What is reiki?

Reiki is a form of energy healing, also known as palm or hands-on healing, targeting energy fields around the body. It seeks out stagnated energy, which may have been caused by emotional pain, for example, or perhaps a physical injury.

Over time, this stagnated energy can lead to illness, but reiki can be used to help encourage the flow of energy, removing the blocks as it works – in a similar way to the likes of acupressure or acupuncture.

“Reiki is a Japanese form of alternative medicine called energy healing. Reiki practitioners use a technique called palm healing or hands-on healing through which a ‘universal energy’ is said to be transferred through the palms of the practitioner to the patient in order to encourage emotional or physical healing” Wikipedia

What does a reiki session involve?

Reiki sessions can be carried out anywhere, so you can do it in the comfort of your own home if you don’t feel comfortable going somewhere or perhaps have mobility issues at the moment. The setting does need to be a peaceful one, however, in order for the treatment to be most successful.

Your practitioner will place their hands on or over different parts of your body for a few minutes to transfer energy. You may find that their hands become quite warm, which can be an interesting sensation the first time! Your practitioner will continue holding their hand positions until they sense that the energy has stopped flowing.

Distance reiki is also an option, with practitioners able to clear blockages even if they’re not actually with you, following the ancient principle of the Hermetic Law of Similarity. Invoking this law means that your practitioner is able to carry out treatments over long distances.

Just for today, I will not be angry.

Just for today, I will do my work honestly.

Just for today, I will be kind to every living thing.

What are the health benefits of reiki?

There are all sorts of benefits associated with the practice of reiki and those who engage with it say that it can help the natural healing process of the body, as well as supporting emotional and mental wellbeing. It can also help you enter a state of deep relaxation, which can help you alleviate any emotional distress you may be feeling.

It’s also thought it can help give you a serious mood boost, as well as helping you enjoy better quality sleep – so, as you can see, there are all sorts of reasons why you might want to try reiki and see if it works for you.
